Women’s Rhinoplasty

Conveniently located to serve St. Petersburg, FL and Tampa, FL

Because male facial aesthetics are vastly different from female facial aesthetics, women’s rhinoplasty requires a specialized knowledge of female facial anatomy. It’s important for women to choose an experienced facial plastic surgeon who can help achieve their desired results. At Kevin Caceres MD, Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Caceres performs women’s rhinoplasty in St. Petersburg, FL, to cater to the specific needs of female patients.

What Is Women’s Rhinoplasty?

Women’s rhinoplasty is a type of nasal surgery that helps create an ideal nose relative to a woman’s other facial proportions. This surgery reshapes the nasal structure in order to achieve cosmetic and functional improvements.

For most women, the ideal nose is usually shorter and smaller. It has an upturned nasal tip (called a supra-tip break) and a slightly scooped bridge. In cases where these characteristics are desired by patients and are ideal for their overall aesthetic, they can be effectively achieved through women’s rhinoplasty.

Ideal Candidates

Women who have issues with their nasal aesthetic are ideal candidates for women’s rhinoplasty. Women experiencing obstructed breathing may also be excellent candidates. Women can consider a rhinoplasty procedure if they have:

  • Nasal asymmetry
  • Undersized or oversized nose
  • Dorsal hump
  • Oversized or undersized nostrils
  • Aesthetic nasal-tip issues
  • Aesthetic nasal-bridge issues
  • Breathing problems

Candidates must be in good overall health and should not have any health conditions that could affect the healing process. Candidates must have completed all natural facial growth. Patients who are non-smokers are the best candidates for this surgery, and smokers must avoid smoking in the weeks before the procedure.

Women’s rhinoplasty is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Candidates must have realistic expectations and be committed to the entire recovery process.

Your Consultation with Dr. Kevin Caceres

Your consultation with Dr. Caceres will start with a discussion of your issues and goals. He will conduct a physical exam and evaluate your medical records. Dr. Caceres will design a personalized plan according to your evaluation and desired results. He will explain each detail of the plan and provide you with instructions. Feel free to raise any concerns; Dr. Caceres will address all of them during the consultation.

The Procedure

Women’s rhinoplasty usually lasts around two and a half hours. It will be performed under anesthesia. Incisions will be created either inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or across the columella (open rhinoplasty).

Dr. Caceres will then shape the patient’s nose based on the surgical plan. Cartilage grafts from the septum, ear, or rib may be used. Once the desired changes are achieved, the incisions will be closed. A splint or cast may be applied to protect the nose during recovery.

Post-Surgery Recovery

The patient can return home once they are cleared to leave. Recovery instructions and prescriptions will be provided to aid the patient while they are healing. The patient may experience minor bruising and swelling around the nose, cheeks, eyes, and the upper lip. The swelling usually lasts for at least two months and will gradually fade.

How Much Does Women’s Rhinoplasty Cost?

The cost of women’s rhinoplasty will depend on the surgical plan. The techniques utilized, total surgical time, and anesthesia fees may affect the overall price of the surgery. If the rhinoplasty is being performed to address functional issues, the patient is recommended to contact their health insurance provider to determine coverage.
